It's been years since I've posted on bf.c, but I recently picked up a 2006 Cooper S JCW and wanted to share it with you guys. I'm really happy with this purchase, the car is quick, fun and agile... and oh so cute, with tons of potential. I have a lot of ideas and I'm excited about modding this car.

I've been driving an e36 for quite awhile now, so the front wheel drive is a little off-putting, but I suppose it's just about getting used to it.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw it and knew it was the one. Does MINI even make the cooper S in automatic? I'm new to this game, I really don't know alot about these cars yet.

The auto trans was available in the R53, have no idea why...so much more fun with a stick.

Nice car!

So what are the good MINI forums? For quality information, DIYs, classifieds, etc...I don't care much about the off topic sections.

I'm usually on motoringunderground.com, laid back good guys...lotsa nice cars, good info...

northamericanmotoring.com has decent classifieds, buts it's mostly R56 people naming their cars...they banned all the guys that contributed all the tech and mod stuff(including me)

Ha. you've been banned from better places.

OP: nice ride. with very little work, you can get the FWD handling to be very good and neutral. i don't check here too often, but feel free to ask away.

good luck

Yeah, NorthAmerican seems pretty tame. I haven't gotten around to registering on MotoringUnderground, seems like there's less boredom there haha

05-06 r53 are the best mini imho :buttrock i have a 05 r53 jcw myself so slight biased haha, the shorter gearing and supercharged engine are quite a fun combo in a small car :cool they only added the auto in 05 due to complaints so the pre facelift r53 cars only came in manual

when northamericanmotoring started to fall apart lots of the core people moved to motoringalliance which is where i go for all my mini stuff, motoringunderground is good too as previously mentioned

think i am still too new here to post pics and link but i have my e34 and r53 in my motoringalliance garage (same username)

enjoy the new car, i know i love mine :redspot

first mod i would suggest would be lighter wheels those s-lites are like ~23lbs iirc which is :eyecrazy

ps i agree with beaner06 on the handling the 1.41G was in my r50, haven't modded the r53 very much yet
