Small coolant hose next to reservoir broke n lost coolant, spliced it together with a coupler and added fluid but gauge is still going near red, any ideas as of why.

Ok so I fixed the heater hose and replaced the fluid. The car still almost hits the red on the temp gage, any ideas as of why. I'm hoping it's not a waterpump hopefully just a thermostat. But how often do the waterpumps go out on the v12.

Did you make sure to bleed the system properly? if not you should go here and follow the steps http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E38/E38_Bleeding_The_Cooling_System.htm

Not the head gasket. Seams to be running fine now.
Goes up to the line past center. I'm thinking I just need to add more fluid n bleed it more. Never had an issue Untill the small hose next to the reservoir broke n lost a lot of coolant. Thanks for the info on bleeding the system.

There could be air still in the system.

Goes to the red and stays there?
Pressured from something failed (rad or pump?) caused it to break
Goes to the red and back down, over and over?
Air trapped in the system. Time to bleed.

It took me forever to completely bleed the system. You just have to wait and park the car on an incline nose up overnight and then in the morning you should be able to add some more coolant.

U get a check engine light due to this, it runs fine and no code piping up on the display, just check coolant, would some codes not pop up on the display, I'm hoping its just a coolant issue

Could the check engine light come on due to air in the system and check coolant level notification on, the light came on this morning hope its due to this and nothing else major. Could a coolant level switch cause the check engine light to pop.
