I swear they paint over the work when it's done professionally so you can't see that there was any work done at all. A place local to me does awesome work and finish the wheels looking like new. This certainly doesn't look like a very professional job to me.

Looks like crap. I had a crack in one of my contours, and the shop welded and cleaned up the weld nicely.

When grinding the weld back down, you lose a bit of strength. take the tire off and look at the other side, if its fully welded there and the edge of the rim is grounded smooth so the tire will bead the right way, you will be fine.

I had 2 professionally repaired by the local shop that everyone I asked recommended. They both looked like that when I got them back. They both went in the dumpster.

Thanks for the replies guys! I guess would have to buy a replacement wheel for this one?
This isn't my wheel. It's a set of BBS CKs I'm looking at buying.

If you can, I'd replace it.

Sketchy. The welds look blobbed on there.no structual strength to that area at all. Will definitely crack again within a few months.

It may hold air, but it looks like crap. If something has been repaired, you shouldn't see where the damage was. If you took your car to have a dent fixed, would you expect to see where the dent was?

Feel the edge of the welds with your fingers. If the crack was welded correctly, there should be no undercut at the edges. There should be a smooth transition from the filler metal to the base metal. it looks good from here. I would just use a nylon flap disc to clean up where the anodize was burnt and put some paint on it, but don't grind the weld. Weld joints do not break, the metal right next to the joint breaks, because of the heat affected zone.
