16" wheels on an e36 m3?

Recently sold my 328i and bought an m3, but i kept the winter tires from the 328i. They were 16" wheels, so if i bought a cheap pair of wheels to mount them on would they clear the brakes and be useable? Thanks guys!

Test fit in the front. Not all 16 inch E36 wheels clear the larger M3 front calipers. Rears are no problem.

I believe 16s that are of a low offest will clear the brakes. As stated already, test fit and you will have your answer.

thanks for the replies! will find someone with some wheels to test fit. The only reason I posted instead of test fitting is because i don't actually have wheels to test fit the 16s with, just the tires so i wanted input first!

I have always heard (adding M3 brakes to a 328i) that you need 17's to clear...

I went and looked at this car for sale and he had 16" wheels that looked like the oem contour 17's. I cant post links, but its a silver m3 sedan on bmwcca classifieds and he has a photo of them.

16 inch wheels mounted on my old E36 M3. Yes they fit on the front, but sorry I can't find a picture of it. You have to check fitment as not all 16's fit.

The e38 weaves clear the front calipers and you can find them pretty cheap

If your saying that you upgraded your 328 brakes to M3 brakes, then yes, some 16"s fit.

If your saying you have an upgrade FROM M3 brakes, then I'm not sure...

Sorry. I was asking two separate things.

1) I was surprised to read that any 16" wheels clear the M3 brakes. That makes me want to possibly upgrade my 328i to M3 brakes (if my 16"ers fit).

2) I was wondering if this implied that the (fairly common) porsche boxster s swap on the M3 spindles (with rally road brackets) will clear also. I don't think it will, but I wanted to hear from someone that has done this swap what they think. Who knows, maybe someone has done the swap and checked fitment on 16" wheels.
