Was thinking about throwing one of these on my car.http://www.eisenmann.co.uk/product/product_detail.php?query=view&code=30&Category1=2&Category2=30&no=183&Opt=
Anyone have experience? Links to what it sounds like...Seems expensive...is it worth it? I see they offer "sport" and "race" sound option. What do these sound like?
for the above exhaust system...can I just add this with no problems? do I need any extra parts for installtion?
thanks!!:buttrock

Mine is road sport which is very slightly louder than stock. Race sport gives a throatier sound. Well made exhaust with a good reputation. I'd recommend it. *thumbsup*
Edit: Straight forward fit. Only hiccup my fitter had was having to refit the hanger clip to the other side as it was on the wrong side for UK fitment. Must have been an error based on German spec.

when you say very slightly louder then stock...so its loud? Would the race option be too loud? Is it legal in CA?

Any aftermarket exhaust that changes the volume/tone/whatever you want to call it from the way it sounded stock (off the showroom floor) is considered "illegal" in California, last time I checked. Emissions wise, it's not illegal unless it affects, well, emssions in any way.

When I say slightly louder I mean it's barely noticeable from the stock sport exhaust that was on there before. I'm not familiar with cali law but the race sport passes MOT fine in the UK.

will the eisenmann performance exhaust effect emissions in any way? So all eisenmann exhausts are illegal in CA?

What are some "perks" of this exhaust? Why did you end up choosing it?

My only 2 reasons were:
A) Looks. I really like the LM tips.
B) Brand quality. The exhaust has lived up to the company's reputation and hasn't given me any cause for complaint.
I like to buy things just the once and then forget about them until they at the natural end of their life need attention.

cat backs wont affect emmisions at all. technically any modifications to exhaust systems in CA is illegal. but no one really cares unless its blantly illegal.
eisenmann is a great company and a great exhaust. i wanted the race version for my car until i bought the active 3 inch exhaust.

how big of a SOUND difference is the "sport" comapred to the "race" is the "race" version way too loud?
Does anyone have a video or sound clip that compares the Eisenmann Performance Exhaust "sport" to the "race" sound?

Youtube is your friend. Also don't let all this "illegal" talk scare you. If you are below a certain decibel you should have no issues with law enforcement. My older brother is a Sheriff's deputy and has a Banks exhaust system on his trunk. If you have a baby launcher you may get harassed but a subtle exhaust should bring you no trouble. Eisenmann is titties by the way. I have heard clips for the E30 and it sounds great. I long for the day I can put one on the M5.

Ok good. Ya i think i'm going to get the 2 x 70mm exhaust from eisenmann with the "sport" sound option. That should keep things nice and inder the radar for the most part. Will I have any problems getting it installed shop? because its technically illegal here in cali?

I'm wondering why you're not considering the very well-built Billy Boat/Supersprint Cat-Back?? The Eisenmann system looks good, but it's more expensive the the well-Proven SuperSprint exhaust. :help

Yup, just what Tipsy and SpecRaceM5 said. An exhaust from the catalytic converter back will not affect emissions. ANY exhaust is TECHNICALLY illegal according to the CVC (CA Vehicle Code), at least back in 2009 when I last checked, I doubt it's changed since.
A cop's not gonna pull you over just for an exhaust, unless you're driving in a way that warrants his "attention".

Careful on clicking the Los Gatos Distributor web-site for Eisenmann: it's an infected site. :nono

I'm leaning towards the sport version over the race version because I don't want to have that much attention. The sport version will already have plenty of sound for me.

mh, the racing version is very loud for less attention you should buy the sport version from eisenmann.

I wouldn't. Seems like it could ding the car; I'd much rather you install it underneath. ;)

do I need the eisenmann connecting pipes or will I be fine with stock? direct fit into stock? How does the muffler connect to the rest of the system? is wielding required or normal practice id flanges & gaskets?

This is how they're supplied. Any competent shop will bolt it on.

That's how it comes when you order the exhaust. You don't get just the backbox. The whole thing. Your exhaust place just needs to cut your existing pipe amd bolt on. It's pretty straight forward and no more than a 30 minute job like I said.

i'm a little confused...sorry i'm new to exhausts and what not...so the pic u showed me u said was the connecting pipes + exhaust right? or is it just what comes with the exhaust? don't I need to buy the connecting pipes separate?
EDIT: I see from the pics that it doesn't include the connecting pipes shown here: http://www.beastpower.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EISENMANN&Product_Code=B5003.00000&Category_Code=bmw-3-e30
and here's a pic of my connecting pipes:
