what bolts would i use on my bbs 2 piece wheels.
i have style 42's off of a 01 530 on my e36, they were black when i got them with polished barrels. looked on ebay, tried bbs' website with no luck. i know with a 3 piece bbs is a bolt and nut ive dis assembled 2 piece wheels before and they were just a bolt ran through the face to the barrel. im looking for something other than the original design bolts to redo them with when i strip the black and decide what color to go with. any input is apreciated

Unfortunately BBS does not sell the parts for their wheels.

This is what you need:

The head shape is just slightly different than the original BBS bolts... the chamfer on the outer edge is smaller. The fit is the same though. Overall head diameter, head height, length, and bit size.
In case you haven't looked it up already, the bit size you need is an 8mm triple square. This is not a standard 12 point or double torx... be sure what you get is a triple square.

does the bolt being 2mm longer change anything?

I am not sure. I know OZ Racing uses one time use bolts that are only available through OZ. I am not really sure on BBS. Like I mentioned before they do not sell the bolts.

I am about to take my 2 piece BBS's off my 01 530i to clean them up. I need to find this 8mm triple square bit to get them off. I'll check to see if Lowe's has the bit.

The extra 2mm will probably interfere. The RK2 wheels I used these bolts on had almost no extra room at the bottom.

Auto parts stores are the best best. VW uses triple square bits from some things. I found mine as a set of 4 (Lisle tools brand) from an Auto Value store.

what would the end of the bolt be hitting? sorry im 3500 miles away from my car right now trying to order parts for it while im away. i know with the 3 piece wheels its a bolt thats grooved to lock in place and a nut to hold it down from the back. but with the two piece bbs wheels does the bolt not go straight through and fasten the face to the barrel which is tapped in x thread pitch? im not seeing how the extra 2mm of bolt would interfere, or more so where it would interfere.

The holes do no go all the way through the barrel. There's a thick section on the barrel that's drilled and tapped just long enough for the hardware... and nothing extra. On a set I did, there was some sand in the bottom of the hole left from sandblasting that I didn't catch. The bolt bottomed out on it and snapped while torquing it down. That's how little extra space there is.
