I just bought a 2005 Z4 2.5 yesterday. When I got home I was checking things and the Continental ContiSportContact tires each had 18 psi... Two questions:

A. Are the Continental ContiSportContacts run flats?
B. Do you think the tires were damages by driving with 18 psi ?

I drove the car about 125 miles yesterday... I am not sure before that. I purchased the car with 49K miles from an older retired gentleman who has owned the car for 3 years and only put around 4400 miles (including a trip from SC to Key West). I have plans to change all fluids and have the codes pulled late next week.

Advice...

Thanks

you can tell if its a run flat by markings on the sidewall. if you can post a pic. 2nd 18psi is low but you should be fine its when it gets between 0-10 where the sidewall grinds its self down.

They make the contisport contact in a runflat and a non runflat version, if yours is the runflat version it'll say SSR somewhere on the tire.

As far as the psi issue, I wouldn't really worry about too much damage being done having driven on the tires at that psi.

That car did come with run flats but may not have them on now. Look for the SSR on the sidewal like samger2 said. Your car should have warned you the pressure was low.
If I can help with the tire let me know.
