Hello everyone I have an e36 and I am going to redo the headliner. Currently the outside is blue and the interior is tan.

My question is what color would go good with the Tan interior?

Should I go with black and then just die the seats to black or what?

Also I was thinking of using the same material to replace the carpet which I really do not like would this be a good or bad idea. (The material would be heavy duty)

Opinions on the color and fabric are appreciated, especially from experience and links to pictures as well.

Same material for floor as headliner? Bad idea. As for headliner color, usually you match it to the interior color, not the other way around. Maybe go with a medium brown and redo the headliner, pillars and rear package tray so they all match

I'd stay with tan and buy actual 1/8" foam backed headliner material

Link for this material? I'm going black headliner with caramel on the lower half just like the E39 M5

I did mine on the e36 with regular suede, no foam backing or anything. Turned out great!

I did my girlfriends headliner in her jetta, with material from Walmarts fabric section, looks and works great no foam backing
