just crashed my m3. all it needs is a right fender, radiator, rad support bumper, coolant sensor, and head lights.
after the crash, power to everything was lost. once i put the key into ignition position there is no power to anything like the windows and stereo.
do e36's have some sort of safety feature on it after it senses a crash?

Just so we're on the same page...right = passenger side.
First thing that comes to mind is fuses. Check every one of them with a meter. Second is test the two red cables that attach to the bottom of the B post near the DME compartment. You should have 12 volts on each one. If you don't then you blew a fuseable link in the trunk. Pull back the trunk carpet and just below/next to the shock mount you'll see where the fuseable link is in at least one of the two red battery cables.
Next thing that comes to mind is all of the ground strap connections that are on the passenger side. At least one on the strut tower. and I believe a couple more around there. Plus there is a large plastic box about 3" long and 1/4" thick right behind the passenger headlight. You should have a bunch of brown ground wires going to it. Its actually a splice panel that allows you to splice into ground wires without hacking into the harness. That may be damaged causing poor ground.
I doubt its the crash module if the airbags didn't deploy. If the air bags did deploy then you'll have to get the crash module reset anyway and you'll know for sure if that's what is causing it.

Post some pics of the damage.
I second checking grounds.
