I finally got my 1993 325i Cabrio 2.5l on the road and have a couple concerns. First I have searched the forum for an answer and didn't find what I was looking for.

A little history, I had bought the car (e-bay, ya I know), it ran great and a week later blew a headgasket. Ouch, well I replaced the gasket, head, water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, plugs, injectors, coils, an a few hoses and such. Finally got it back on the road and noticed that it is running a little hot. It goes to half way and after about 10km slowly goes up to 3/4 and pretty much stays there. I run the heater thinking it helps but probably doesn't.

There are a couple things that I am thinking is making it run hot but am not really sure. First, it doesn't have a fan shroud and I'm trying to find one, also the oil cooler is dented and drips oil a little so it may be restricting the flow a little, not really sure. Lastly I am not sure what temperature the thermostat is so if I put in one with a lower number would that help.

Lastly, I most usually drive sticks and it is an automatic and doesn't have much acceleration. Is that normal for these cars?

I'll post a photo after I wash it.

Tks

I didn't see a new radiator on that list. Replace it if it hasn't been done. The car's 19 years old. I would also advise completely flushing the coolant when if/when you go back in there (if you didn't do it earlier). Fan shroud won't make a difference while driving at speed on the highway, only in stop-and-go traffic and only if your stock fan clutch is working properly.

Bleed the coolant again. And then bleed the coolant again. And then bleed... :cool

I'll look into replacing it, the radiator "appeared" to be rather new, no grime, bugs and looked alot better than most. I'll bleed the system a couple more times and see what happens. Tks
