I live in orlando fl, and i go to the fileds bmw, i just want to know for me, cause sometimes im just walking in there blind folded, if im on a budget for that time im in, i have to tell them that before they just do stuff and i end up paying 1,600.00 sometimes, so i want to know is there a link i can get this info?
but i need to know how much are brakes pads, calipers, rotors oil and filter etc, those kinds of things
And nothing against the bmw dealerships but alittle bit of a heads up before

Too much..find a good indie shop that uses OEM parts, and use them instead

Agreed with Ryn. Brakes aren't difficult to do, there's no reason to pay dealership premium for the work. Ask the local FL forum (lower down on the main forum index) to recommend a good indie shop.

the service department will give you a quote up front before the service, even if you do get something done at the dealership there is no reason to walk in there blind. Ask for a quote up front and then tell them that they are not approved to perform any other services without your express consent and approval. This is how you should do things at ANY service department or shop.
Often when pricing repairs the price different isn't enough for me to care about. Sometimes if its just a little bit more money I'd rather do that and know its done by someone experienced with BMW's and I get all of the convenience of having the dealership pick me or the car up and giving me a loaner.

problem with getting a quote is that they'll want to inspect the vehicle first (understandable) to see how much work it needs..but once a dealer has your car on a rack, have fun trying to get it back off without dropping some money. especially if youre just taking it there to get a price. itll be cheaper at the indie, garuanteed, and you wont have to hastle with sales people while youre waiting..

Have fun trying to get it back? Just say this, "no thanks, I'd rather get another opinion." But I get a quote before my car is even at the shop, they just put a disclaimer that they are quoting service that I described and can not guarantee that it is the service that would actually be required. If you know a decent amount about cars you usually have an idea what needs to be done, you are rarely going in there blind with only a symptom to describe. It's really easy to get a quote to do a brake service, or an oil change, but they may not be able to help you if you want to know the cost to fix a vague sound or vibration.
Independant shops are trying to make money to, they can upsell you just the same.

well the techs don't work for free. If you are just going in to get a diagnostic and price, of course they will charge you.

just take it to a GOOD indie. once you start a relationship with them, itll go beyond what a dealer can/will do for you. Ive got a couple customers here that get treated REAL well because i never have to DEAL with them, and they treat me right

your serv advisor will have a ball park price for brakes, oil service, spark plugs, fluids that are flushed - coolant & brake, drive belts, water puump and t-stat replacement, basically normal everyday service items. there is no way that you should not know what its gonna cost to fix your car. the serv adv is supposed to call you on the needed repairs b4 any work is done.
hard parts like calipers, cv axles, struts/shocks, tires, etc, will need to be looked up according to your car.
