Hi all,
I am in need of a sound system upgrade for my '95, 525. I would like to replace the existing speakers so that all components fit back into the original enclosures without any butchery or mods. Will also replace the head unit and install an amp. I just want good quality sound and no 'doof, doof' as I am not in that age group. Currently running NAD components and Cerwin Vega speakers in the living room. Suggestions please.
Cheers

Already tried that Eagle. Not a lot of info for replacing the odd sized speakers.

Oddly sized speakers? :)
I'd say it's very common speaker size of 5.25" midbasses up front and rear and then 2.5" midrange front and the tweeters are regular sizes front and rear as well.
EDIT: I use an aftermarket deck (pioneer HU) with a DLS 5channel amplifier to all the speakers+sub in the car, it's a pretty easy upgrade imho and makes a huge difference in sound quality!

An a/d/s MX 860 8 channel amplifier, a/d/s 5.25" coaxials in the rear, a/d/s 245is components in the front and a pair of Morel 2.5" midranges in the dash and a quality deck. I use an Alpine CDA-7998. All the crossover points are dialed in at the ideal frequency ranges. I do not use the passive networks in the front they are active from the amplifier.
Add a sub if you want thump like an 8" or 10" in a sealed enclosure.

You could also get a standard set of 2 way components for the front, a decent sub, and skip the rear components all together.

one set that matches the sizes upfront is the old eclipse 3 way components. they were 5#25, 2" and 3/4 super tweets.
be aware, the nokias are actually good speakers if you double or triple the power per channel. and high pass the midbass at 80 hz with a steep slope like 18 or 24db/oct.
ditch the rears and do a sealed skipass 12 from 60 hz on down at 12db/oct.

Don't mean to hijack but i'm clueless when it comes to the cars system. I put in an aftermarket hu a while ago and could never get the volume past a decent level before it would die, as a method to save the speakers from blowing I imagine. I'm thinking theres to much wattage between the hu and stock amp to the speakers.
Don't know how I can fix this or whats the easiest way to do it.

and your problem is common ground
OP, finally home so here's the only ones I know off, but I LIKED the nokias with 40w thru the oem xover.

Thanks for the posts everyone.
The major problem is that a lot of the components you guys are referring to are US based. I'm in Australia. Will now take the advice and Google the recommendations.
