I just did the timing chain and guides on my 2001 740il. I got it all back together, and took it for a test drive. It ran great! Until the upper radiator hose blew off. I put it back on, filled the fluid, and went back out. Got half a block away, and it just died. Suddenly. Wouldn't start back up. I saw that my 5-8 cam position sensor was split open near the plug, lime the wires had been smashed. I am sure between that and the coolant sprayed everywhere, I shorted some stuff out. I need some advice where to start looking. Does it sound like relays got fried? Or the ecu/ECM is bad.

I think you need to determine which wires could have grounded. If the coolant was new or reasonably new its conductivity is very low. This is particularly true if the (BMW) coolant was mixed with distilled water.

I don't think a totally non-functional CSPS would cause the engine to quit especially on a V8. I think you should have flat-bedded to a good indy mechanic. Good luck!

Got it figured out! It was a 30 amp fuse in a box that had 6 30 amps off the main fuse block in the engine bay. And the new cps. Runs great!
