Hi guys,

My 2001 330ci has had 3 sets of dancing shoes since I got her. And one set was totally free!

She started out with the OEM Style 68. 17¨ wrapped in Pilots. This was a staggered setup. 8¨ in front and 8.5¨ in rear.

Then, I upgraded to SSR Competition. 18¨ wrapped in Kumhos. This was also a staggered setup. 8.5" in front and 9¨ in rear. This was a great set of dancing shoes.

Then last week, I heard that Michelin was looking to test some new tire designs. They wanted to put them on 330s only. Good thing I have a 330ci.
There were 10 sets of tires and rims that they will let us use. I called ASAP and setup an appointment that day. (They had all 10 assigned that day).

When I got there, there were 5 rim types and 2 different tires. Michelin and Goodrich. I choose my set because of the look of the rims. Some were just too plain looking. This happen to have Goodrich tires. They wheel were the same size all around. 18¨x 8.5¨.
So they can be rotated for longer usage.

Well, they got it on and will store my old set for me. I get to use them and abuse them, till they are bald. Not a problem! ļ
They are going to call me every 2 months or so and may want to inspect them too.

I have put on about 400 miles and I am not so sure about these tires. To be fair, my last setup was wider and are performance tires. These are all season tires. They tram less that the Kumho and are very quiet. I could not get my Kumhos to break loose at 2500 rpm dump in first gear. But I can light these up before it takes off. The tread design is also a little on the weird side.

Now, I want to ask you. How do these new shoes look to you?
Compared to the SSR?

Well, I will keep you guys updated as this test continues.
You can also see more pics, just follow the link in my sig.

I'm not sure which ones I like the best but I'm sure it needs a drop :)

The clear corners look a lot better than the ambers.

I don't like the "loaner" rims at all. Too ghetto looking, IMO. Not too crazy about the SSR's either, but they're not bad. (No offense). The only rims I like on 3 series is stock or most of the BBS rims. I haven't seen any others that I'm too crazy about.

Well, BBS are nice, but they are just too heavy. The SSR Competition rims are only 16 lbs each!

The loaner rims are nice. I like the big chrome lip. If they were not so heavy and wider....

i like the SSR's better.

It's dope u get to cruize around on someones elses rims and tires for a few months tho! Rip em up, and still have yours to put on.

Go see how well these new rims handle rough roads and potholes.... haha

Granted they may be the wrong kind of tire, but if you tire of them, you can always do a heavy track day, ring them up and say
"Guess what, its only been 7 days and they're already bald!"

I am of course just kidding.

As for the rims? Not perfect, but the price is right!

guys, these are free tires. Free! If I could get free tires I would mount rusty old mustang wheels and they would be bald in about 2 weeks.

^^^ Yes, but I do want them to give me free wheels again, the next time they do a field test.

I promise you this. These wheels will not last long. :)
