This forum has been extremely useful to me whilst lurking (helped me diagnose and fix some problems, mod my stereo, etc), so I thought I'd join and participate. After doing some pretty thorough searches here I have not found a solution to a couple of problems I have on my 03 E39.
First, recently the button in the center console that operates the door locks stopped working, as did the button on the key. The trunk still opens with the fob and the key will lock/unlock all the doors manually at the driver's side lock. The fuel door also locks normally when I use the key in the door. Checked the fuses and they are good.
Second, my backup lights don't go on when I put the car in reverse. The bulbs are fine and I've already replaced the gear switch sensor on the tranny under the car, and a guy at a local shop changed a switch/sensor? under the center console...neither worked.
If anyone has had any experience with either/both of these issues please let me know what your solution was so I can rule that out. Thanks a lot.
