So yesterday as I was driving my car suddenly stalled. I wasn't changing gears or anything and it completely shut off. After I restarted it I had no problems. Today as I was driving there weren't any problems at first but later the gears were acting kinda sluggish and then thrusted me. For instance, I was driving in 6th gear going about 40 or so and the car randomly just jolted a bit. Also on 4th gear and 2nd it did the same but the speeds I was traveling at were fine for that gear. It's not my footing either, it's the car but I have not a clue what is going on.. Please help! Thanks!!

Sluggish gears?? Thrusting?? To be frank, I'm not understanding what you mean...

Did you come to a stop and not dis-engage the clutch?? That will stall it..

40mph in 6th gear is a no-no. Note RPM at that speed in 6th will probably be at/below idle point. Are you sure about what you are doing?

If you are just cruising it is fine. I do 40mph or less in my car in 6th all the time withhl CC around town. As long as the RPM is above 1200 or so, and the engine is not lugging, it is fine.
I did a small experiment with the 8spd auto with the N20 on the X1 and sure enough it goes into 8th as long as the RPM is around 1100-1200 and you are not accelerating. In addition on our cars, when CC is engaged , you will get a warning on the dash of you are in a higher gear than acceptable.

Sorry it's hard to explain but it's the speed that's important anyway. Around 4th the car just shifts strangely and bucks a bit/shaking and now today it did it while I was driving and the service engine soon light is on and starting is a lot longer

Not important *
