so my 98 540i 6 speed is stuck in the ACC position with the key being able to be removed. the ignition wont turn anyway at all. any advice on what i can do to get it unstuck? idk but i think the guy i took my car to get smogged may have tried putting in the wrong key? thank you once again for any help.
Fixed it by unplugging the battery and removing the steering wheel column covers. Than I unplugged everything I saw under there and than I removed what I believe was The combination switch harness and behind that was a little "T" shaped thing that was not put in all the way. So I put the harness in what I believed was the OFF position and took pliers to the "T" and turned it until it matched what I had the harness set as. Than I out it all together and it fit! I used a combination of YouTube videos to do each step lol.
