I have a 2008 335xi, 6 spd with just over 50 K miles. Begining a couple days ago I noticed when shiifting from 1st to 2nd at around 3,000 RPM the car would buckle and then accelerate very slowly. The same is true through out each subsequent gear. I don't think it's the clutch as the RPM's aren't running out of proportion when shifting. Also I was going 70 in 6th gear, around 2500-3000 RPM and when I push the accelerator to the floor, I go no where, couldn't even hit 80 mph and the RPM never got past 3,000. Thoughts?

Any smoke, or clutch smell?

No smoke or smell. Of note, while it's running and for a few seconds after I cut the engine I can here a fan running. This was not noticeable prior.

The fan runs when the engine is hot, even after shutting off the car (since it is electrical). Not sure if those 2 are related, the fan could be normal due to weather, etc or could be due to a faulty thermostat or water pump, but neither should cause acceleration issues.
There are ways to test the clutch, but if it is on the way out, they could outright kill it, so I am hesitant to recommend.

It may be that the fan's running because the engine is overheating due to whatever's causing the lack of acceleration. I don't think it's the clutch, I've been through that issue with prior cars. I'm not hard on the clutch and have always driven MT. The car's at the dealer right now, as it's still under warranty, I was just curious to get other peoples thoughts and haven't heard from the dealer yet.

It's a bad water pump

I have this issue now.. I think. Yesterday while driving in 4th I believe it just stalled. Then it was fine until today in 2nd, 4th and 6th it had slow acceleration and then jolted a bit.. Was it your water pump?
