I've got a Forge BOV that came with the TT kit. While pressure testing to 10psi and spraying soapy water, I noticed the BOV was leaking . Does this need to be opened and cleaned, rebuilt, or replaced?

I've had the same issue. Just clean the valve and seat.

^thanks. Do you disassemble when cleaning? I've sprayed a half can of brake cleaner to get the oil residue from all the holes, and also sprayed the valve, but kept it shut during the process.

Just spoke with Forge...they do not recommend cleaning with brake cleaner as it may dry out the grease on the seal...oops. Also, they do not recommend taking it apart unless I have the replacement parts as sometimes a seal is torn on disassembly.

They are sending me a rebuild kit for free, which I believe he said consists of a new oring, seal, and piston.

Dump it and get a tial welded on the pipe. My forge unit from the TT kit dis the same and I could never get it right.

The tial BOV sounds great. Do it!

The tial BOV sounds great. Do it! I just checked and see it retails for a measly $259. :shifty I need to limit time on BFCFI, as you guys are a bad influence on my retirement funds :)

thinking about this again, I'd rather save the $259-160 and upgrade to a larger intercooler :)

Or you can do both. Retirement is for squares. ;)

Synapse purposefully makes competitor's products malfunction in their tests to make their products look better. Guess who im not supporting.

What are you looking at? Meth should help for now After reading 2 threads about bigger intercoolers yielding improvements (chiknhead + 1 other) I'd like to experiment with a larger one. A few guys commented on it's size during the original install. a 24x12x4 core is only ~105 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intercooler-31-X12-X4-3-End-Tank-Bar-Plate-/260930991677?_trksid=p1984.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222000%26algo%3DSIC.CURRENT%26ao%3 D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D8752280423682526208%26pid%3 D100011%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1.

Or you can buy a synapse. you guys...LOL. I'm not buying another $160-260 BOV if I can simply rebuild my forge for free. How bad can it be?

Looking at that it looks like you will have to redo your charge piping as well no? The intercooler on my car has the in/out pointed rearwards, not straight sideways. Perhaps a 90 degree silicone piece will do the trick.

I agree, try the rebuild since its free...So what did you tell forge to have them send you rebuild stuff for free. That it was leaking a bit when pressure testing? I'm going to have to double check mine but it'll be sometime before I get around to it.

I believe acastillo and I have IC with end tanks that go straight out. I think yours is an older generation kit?

I like the way the Forge BOV sounds, any vids to hear the Tial on an M3?

I'm not sure if this is smaller or larger than the older style, but you should look at those 2 threads, esp since you've considerably upgraded your kit. Yes, charge piping will need to be changed, but I was thinking of getting creative with chopping off the ends that meet with the IC, and seeing what options are available for longer silicone hoses/elbows. I never liked the gap that the 3" core made with the bumper opening. A 4" core will move it forward, and also make it easier to seal.

Then he asked for my address to send me the rebuild kit after confirming which BOV I have.

crap, i'll look into upgrading it lol. if you do and have the ability to do a dyno, dragstrip, vbox, etc, afterwards to compare to your last one, this would be helpful :).

Sniz, if you have the old intercooler then you would probably see even greater gains going to a bigger IC.

FYI If you cut off the inlet and outlet and cap the holes, mount the intercooler (24x12x4" core), then figure out the position of the 90* elbows to be welded to the end tanks, you shouldn't have to do anything to the IC piping. See my thread for details.
