First off wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum for all the helpful tutorials on how to get DIS setup.

I have DIS/INPA/EDIABAS installed on my laptop and the API Test runs fine, just waiting on my cable to arrive to actually test it.

Was wondering if there exists an FAQ/Guide on how to actually read codes/program modules/etc. using DIS. All of the guides I've found refer to getting DIS installed but don't actually talk about how to use it.

Essentially I'm interested in how to read SES codes, program the dealer specific functions (such as daytime running lights on/off, auto door lock at 5 mph), open the ABS system to do a clean brake flush. Also just in general would like to know the extent of what I can do with DIS.

Thanks!

What version are you using?
You can do all of that from DIS 44 as long as the car isn't too new.

The general overview for diag is plug in, pick diagnosis and it will identify the car, and give you an option of quick test, which is 2-3 mins of checking everything.

Once done, click > in the bottom corner for a rough overview, but don't pay too much attention here, click > again, and it'll guide you though the individual faults, with what to do, or any fancy self tests it can do.

For other stuff, you can click control module functions in the lower right, pick an ECU, and again do stuff like read data, and check codes, even if there isn't a fault logged.

For the autolocking etc, you'd want to go into programming instead of diagnosis, and pick car/ key memory, and it will eventually bring up a list of your options.

ABS cycling would be in the diagnosis side, maybe under control module functions on the lower right, or try the button on the lower left corner. I forget the name, but I think the lower left has service stuff, resetting fault lights, re-aligning EWS etc and ABS cycle or bleed might be in there.

Thanks for the explanation :). I'm using DIS v44. That should help me figure out how to use those functions. I guess I'll just play around with the rest of the menus and hopefully they will be self explanatory.

This is about the best I have found as far as a general guide goes 410425
