thinking about selling my e46 for a mini. A girl I work with is selling her 2005 mini (not s) for 4k. Its got 112k on it, 5 speed, from cali. 50k ago it got a new engine, tranny, and driveshafts, because of some failure bmw covered it all and did the work, (she has paperwork for literally everything) its always had, premium gas, and synthetic oil at every 3k. Im gonna take it for a spin tonight, anything I should look for? I heard there are tranny problems at 100k, would they have fixed that problem whith the new one?
Thanks for any help!

So, at 62 K miles it got a completely new drivetrain? And it was totally covered under warranty?

I would have to say that was a most understanding Mini shop i have ever heard of, to cover all of that for free, under warranty.

While it isn't impossible, I would certainly study the work history in detail.

Specifically, from what I've been able to read, most of the transmission related issues are related to cars with the dual-mass flywheels, which I don't believe the non-S models have. From a practical standpoint, if the drive train was replaced 50K miles ago, then this is a 7 year old Mini with 50k miles on it. That's how you should look at it.
