A 1.5" to 2" drop is pretty much guaranteed to wipe out the oil pan. Enough pans get wiped at the 1.25" drop that you have to drive carefully. Take a peek under and see how low the pan already is.
____________

Here is a little light reading, there will be a test after!

One of the spring brands comes in two different "stiffness" and people would rave that they were too stiff, others, no they're too soft, because they actually had different spring rates, but I can't for the life of me remember which one! (I though is was either Eibachs or H&R's, but I'm not sure). The other reason people differ so widely on springs is that there is one school of though that assumes that you have to lock the suspension up to the point that the car rides like a log wagon or you really don't have a "sport" suspension (typical US attitude that came form trying to make old style Detroit Iron behave in a corner before Detroit finally caught on). Or the European model which dictates both great handling and a good ride.

Some want to control the body roll and slam a stiff set of springs on when what they really need is the correct combination of Anti-roll bars. Others mistakenly think that stiff shocks control body roll when it is a careful combination of all three that matters.

Go with Bilstein sport shocks plus lowering springs. I'm happy with the eiback springs, and many like the H&R's. If you want as low as possible, you need either coilovers or SPAX springs from mye28.com

Becareful of your oil pan as stated by Chris. Just make sure to get a skid plate or drive slow over the dips/ bumps and you will be fine.

Recently installed the Bilstein HD and H&R springs. I was worried that the 1.25in. drop wasn't going to lower it enough, but I have to say I love how the car sits now. Plus you have a better chance of not leaving your oil pain in a pot hole somewhere.

I love a good handling car, so I'm moving to the 25mm M5 sway bar to tighten up the body roll, but that is just an added comment since you didn't expand past wanting a lower ride height.
