Hey all,

I'm about to buy an 09 335xi 6mt with every option available that year. I'm trading in my 2011 STi Limited. It's my 3rd STi and while I love it, I'm getting bored of having the same car. The Bimmer is a CPO and the miles are really low.

I'm thinking of getting an accessport and reflashing the ecu. For those who have done this, have you had problems with the dealer under warranty?

Any other tidbits of advice would be great. I'm really excited to get the car.

Thanks,

Uninstall the tune before bringing the car in for service and you shouldn't have any issues. COBB makes installing/uninstalling easy.

Thanks for the response. I'm very familiar with COBB stuff - I've been using Accessports on my different STis for 7 years! Basically I just wanted to make sure BMW isnt more anal about checking for modified software.

ALSO, big question: The '09 I am buying has the sport package, does that automatically mean it has an oil cooler? It has the ZSP wheels, but not the upgraded 18". Why would they tie an oil cooler to wheel option??

Why is it a big deal if the car does not have the oil cooler?

Thanks in advance,

The motors tend to get hot and thus an oil cooler is necessary. Your car definitely has it and u can verify that by looking on ur passenger side front tire area. Look under the fender where ur tire is facing the same as the front of the car for little flares on the plastic.

Anyway as for the tune , get a piggy back system that u can remove for dealer visits in case u have a big issue.

As fast as the sti was you will be much happier with the bimmer's ride and looks.
Sti looks like a toy car lol ( just teasing)

This forum is filled with knowledgeable people ( I'm not one of them) that can help u out if anything and there's just so much info on here.

Good luck buddy

Are you sure it would have the oil cooler? Its a sedan if that matters. I read in the FAQs on here that this car would only have the oil cooler if it had the 18" wheels...

Thanks,

No I read it has to have the sports package but I'll check if bmw started putting the additional oil coolers on cars even without the sports package for 09 and up
Gimme a sec

You apparently need to order a zsp package (sports package in the states?)
Basically u need the sports package with 18's

U can always simply add the oil cooler on ur own if u wish
I see u live in Chicago so I don't think u NEED one unless u will track and drag ur car honestly though.

Yes the car has ZSP but not 18" - I'm still curious why they tie it to the wheels... I need to change my profile - I actually live in Denver now..

I believe it is more about the tire speed rating and this speed limits setting. 18" wheels usually come with W/X/Y/Z rated tires so top speed is 149mph vs 130 for V rated tires. 335 + ZSP comes with former.
That is my theory at least tying all the dots together over the past 6 years.

Well looks like I'm not getting the car UGH. The dealership had the car on hold for me and sold it out from under me!

Dam that sucks man..
I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it though because I'm sure you'll find an even better one around soon buddy

Well looks like things changed again! The dealer called and apologized and offered me the car. Looks like I now own a 335 with x-drive :)

Here's what happened.
They probably tried passing someone through finance that was willing to pay more for the car but he got refused and probably took his deposit back and that's how u ended up getting it.

Anyway congrats on the car brah!
