I have seen a few posts about putting E30 Sport seats in..
Anyone have a measurment on how much head room you gain?
I need about 2 inches of headroom so my helemt does not BANG the dam headliner.
I imagine it drops weight but thats not my real goal.

You must be really tall. I am 6'1" and did not have issues with my helmet hitting the headliner.

I have a tall upper torso so my head hits the roof, my upper torso is as tall as my friend who is 6'4. I am 6.0.
Not a new proeblem in my E36M3 with a sunroof it's a problem in my non sunroof E36 m3 I am good.
Have same issue in my 87 535is turbo too.

Make all your cars redneck convertibles.

Haha!
You'd definitely gain some headroom, the E30 sport seats have a much slimmer base/mount than the E34 seats do. Have you thought about making lower brackets to mount the E34 seats to?

I'll leave that to you since it's your bright idea...

I don't think you have room with the electronics and motors under the seat. I saw a post a few weeks ago of someone putting them in. I was curious if they measured before and after.

PM johnny e23. He just put some E30 seats in his touring. Headroom isn't an issue for him, but he could at least give you the measurements. Keep in mind he has a sunroof delete car though.

I am 6'4" and the e30 seats help with helmet space. I ground down the cylindrical pedestals & welded brackets to the front mounts to work with the e34's chassis hooks. I can lower the seat right to the floor making fore/aft adjustment impossible.
