any of you touring fellows ever "tighten" your cargo cover? its like the springs in mine are getting bound or soemthing. if i leave it extended for any period of time, it doesnt want to retract at all. i have to pull on it an extra bit and then it will start to retract. then if i pull it out a couple times it gets "free-er" th each pull. any ideas?

i think you can drill the rivets out on the end caps. but i dont want the spring to explode and then i wont be able to get it back togehter. wondering if theres an easy way.

That stinks! I've never had any issues with either of mine. I wouldn't want to tear into one unless I had a spare... Would be an interesting project though!

Hmmmm, I'm wondering if there is some kind of light clear oil to use.

That's exactly where it is on the cargo nets so would imagine it's the same on the cargo cover. I drilled the rivets on one of my nets and pulled it apart so that's why I know that. It's not scary and the spring isn't under that much pressure. I think you're handy enough to do it no prob. Should be able to drill the rivets, pry off the caps, and wind the spring slightly tighter then put it all back together.
