I have a 1992 318is that has been running perfectly lately...until this morning. I started the car and it went through the usual flashing of lights on the cluster and then all the gauges but the speedo went dead. No engine temp, fuel level, or tach. Also, the parking brake, brake fluid, and brake pad warning lights came on. The parking brake was not on and thus I doubt there is actually an issue with the brakes. My cluster has been a bit wacky lately so I figure it needs to be replaced to solve the issue. Is this most likely the problem or could it be something bigger? Also, what clusters would work in my car?

Another issue that has been bothering me, I have 235's all around on my car and since fitting them I have been getting a wandering feeling from the rear end on uneven roads. The car feels like the rear end is kicking side to side and is rather unnerving. I know my RTAB's are shot and I am ordering some polyurethane bushings to replace them. Is this the cause of that or do I have more of a problem there too?

Thanks for any and all help!

Bad RTABS will definitely cause the rear end to wander, especially when you are putting the power down hard.

As for the other issue, the first thing I would do is check system voltage with the engine running. Low system voltage can cause all sorts of strange electrical things to happen. I'm not sure what I'd do after that though lol.

Thats what I figured for the rear end wandering, I'll be taking care of that as soon as possible.

I dont have a multimeter(?) to check the voltage at the moment so I went ahead and pulled the cluster, disassembled it completely to look for any issues. I didn't find anything so I put it all back together and re-installed it and for whatever reason it works again. Only problem is that now one of the backlight bulbs is out and now the tach and temp gauge don't light up....one problem solved, one more created...
