Hi everyone,
I got a 2009 328i a couple of months back and I have been having an intermittent problem with my manual transmission. Sometimes when I stop at a light and sit there for a while, when I attempt to shift into first, the gear sticks and I have to pump the clutch a few times before I can shift into first.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before. I took it in to the dealer and they had no idea what was going on. I am returning this saturday so if anyone has an idea I will love to hear it before I take it in. So at least I can have some suggestions about things they could look at.

thanks for your input.

Thanks. As long as it isn't the transmission giving up on me I can live with it.

All manuals can do this... just go into a different gear and then back into first if you don't want to fiddle with the clutch. That usually sorts it.

Happens on motorcycles too although you can usually just rock the bike a bit to fix it or let the clutch out a little to get things moving but not load up the drivetrain a lot.

Nothing to worry about IMO.

Cool, thanks guys. I had an 08 VW rabbit previously which will periodically exhibit similar symptoms but it wasn't as often. Plus I think I might have had unrealistically high expectations for the beemer. I must adjust my expectations appropriately :-)
I think all manual transmissions may have such wonkiness.
