Yea, I know.... it's very subjective and whatever ...

That said, I've found a couple lower mileage 540s but

What would the following 540s be worth ?

- 95 540iA with 65,000 miles Seller asking $7900
- 95 540iA with 105,000 miles Seller asking $8995

Both are in excellant shape.

from what I read in the last thread around 6k, that's depending on a whole list of variable's that more informed members would be able to include.

I bought my 85k mi 540i/6 for 5800 last year. I won't say excellent shape but pretty damn good.

For a 17 years old bmw?

Honestly even with the low mileage I would say that they should be in the 3-4k range. 8 is WAY to high. With cars this old, mileage really doesn't speak much to me. you can get a cherry m5 for that money or as someone else said a pretty nice e39. Most e34's on the road now days have hit bottom when it comes to their price.

Come on now on getting a cherry M5 for $8Gs... :rolleyes

Hopefully, more folks will chime in here. I'm looking at a couple and don't want to overpay the market value.

So what is a fair price to pay for a low mileage 540iA ??

The lower mile one would be worth that all day if 6 spd., not likely to find a buyer for an autobox at that price as most enthusiasts prefer a proper gearbox.
The seller of the second car has a firm grip on it at that price.

Ok maybe not cherry, but one that isn't in too rough of shape.

2-3.5k Seriously ?? With only 65,000 miles ? That's real hard to believe.

This is like pulling teeth here. :rolleyes

Come on folks..... I know you guys are the experts on these cars.

NADA says $3787 for a clean trade-in with 85K miles (splitting the difference between the two). I'd probably pay $4k, $4.5K for a rust-free model with some documented service history (like an Alusil engine replacement).

I would not pay much more than trade in value for most cars.
