My 89 has an earlier unit in an aluminum housing, the later ones had ones in plastic housings with a different part number. I am tired of trying to figure out why mine is behaving erratically, so I am looking for a replacement, though I am not sure what range of units I can put in my car.
Here is the thread where I have been posting about the issues with my current module.

yes
I have to say, I've never seen a CCM go bad. Not that it's impossible for the part to fail, but the fault is usually an instrument cluster or a power/ground issue.

If you look in the thread I linked, shogun posted a .pdf documenting a repair for a CCM that was giving erratic warnings, though it was for a later version of the CCM.
I am now getting suspension leveling, trunk open, and front fog light errors all over the place and I think the gong in my car is going to explode. (that or my brain)
