I drove the car yesterday with no problems. And then this morning I went to start it. And nothing but a click. All the lights come on. I can even hear the fuel pump coming on. But when I turn the key to start it.. It just clicks. Doesn't turn over at all. I know outs got to be something simple. I just can't put my finger on it. The car did something similar to this once our twice before. But when I went to turn the key. All the lights and power were lost.

So I took the back seat out. Wiggled this black box that I think connects to the alarm. And all the lights came on and it started right up. I don't have the keyless entry pad or key(don't know if out came with a pad our key with the pad on it). I just got a OEM key from the dealer. Any ideas as to why this thing won't do nothing but click?

Anybody?

Wait, so did the lights come on or not? I would check all electrical connections to and from that box.

Sounds like a classic low battery. Did you try a jump?

Battery is either dead/bad or you have a bad battery connection. Undo the terminals, clean them out and attach the terminals back in place. Make sure they're tight and do not move by hand
Also check the fusible link in the positive cable right near the battery.

that or your starters toast. but id be checking power and ground issues first.

Advice 1.Quickly turn the key to the start position and release several times as quick as you can to attempt to get the starter to engage.
Advice 2. Hit the starter with a handy impact device such as a BF hammer then attempt to start.
Advice 3. Remove, clean and tighten the battery connections then attempt.
Advice 4. Try hooking up at set of jumper cables.
Advice 5. Call for help.

probably need a new battery. Or the alarm is draining your battery wich I highly doubt unless its aftermarket. if its aftermarket, you can try getting it removed at bestbuy for like $25 bucks.

Everything comes on add it should. From the radio to the lights. I tried taping the starter but nothing happens. I will try to disconnect and reconnect the battery making sure it's not able to be moved by hand. As for the alarm, it's OEM. I'm going to try the suggested scenarios mentioned. If nothing works, I'll just take the battery to get it checked. But from the dates on the battery, it doesn't look like it's over a year old. But process of elimination will be the best policy here. So I'll post back with results.

Taping the starter won't do anything.

You should at least try tapping it.

Also, you should use a BFH and hit the starter with a hard blow. This would, in case the starter is resting on a broken tooth, bump it over so that it will engage.

I'm still on the track that your battery is too weak, though.

And I forgot to add that I tried jumping the car, but with no success. I tried to jump out using the battery under the seat. Not the terminals under the hood.

Check connections first. Especially grounds. They have to be clean, check battery to alternator wire, check battery check alternator. Check fuses. Any other symptoms when running? Pay attention to electronic things, tach, speedo etc. electronics do funny things when they fail.......

yer put a lead from the starter motor body to chassis
my friends 325 compact we built did this, we even had 2 ground leads on it,it seemed to randomly not start, then putting a good ground jump lead proved it

Upon further inspection. I noticed that the battery date was 1/07. humm. Seems like it's time for a new battery

Sounds very similar to the same problems I was having, new battery resolved all of them.

If your battery has a bad cell in it you will have this issue and no amount of jumping the car with that battery in place will do anything. I am guessing that either your starter is %100 toast, or the battery is dead and sucking all the amperage when you try to jump it.

I just took it to the auto parts store. And the battery was marginal in power. Half way if you will. So I left it to have it charged. I now don't know if I should be looking to get another battery, or starter.. I just find it so peculiar that the starter would just die like that. Working as it should all this time, and then out of the blue. Boom, dead.. I thought parts like that gives you warnings before they die. It turned over the first time %95 of the time.

I just don't wanna go buy a starter and I don't need it.. I'll wait until I get the battery back. If it starts, then I will buy a battery. And I guess if it doesn't. Then a new starter it is.

Could be the alternator if the battery isn't holding a charge. That should be your next avenue of investigation. There's an awesome local rebuild shop in VB that's really fair, so LMK if that's the problem. You can take your alt to get tested at the auto parts store.

If you said that the started worked %95 of the time before I would say that the starter was showing signs of dieing beforehand. But as said before if you have a bad cell in the battery then it is going to drain almost all of the amps provided by a jump.
