I have an M635 in storage in Colo Spgs. Last time I was in town, I had the car over to the dealer who estimated ~$3000 in repairs, including:

all fuel lines replaced
brake bomb replacement & brake fluid flush
cooling system service
timing chain & tensioner replacement (not included in dealer estimate)

Needless to say, I declined their offer. I am headed up there in a few weeks to drive the car back to AZ and won't have time to get everything done myself before the roadtrip, so I am looking for a recommendation on a good, honest, fair independent mechanic to do the work.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

In the Springs, try:

Mondino Imports
305 Juanita Street
Colorado Springs, CO
719 385-0953

If you are willing to go a little further north to Denver, contact Doug Paddock at:

Paddock Imports
303 825-5700
803 West 6th Ave
Denver, CO

Whichever route you go, once you've got it sorted let's have a meet up so some of us local Bimmerheads can admire your M635csi :alright

Hope this helps,
Jim

Thanks, Jim. This is very helpful. I'll give Mondino a call.

I'm afraid the M635 is not much to look at right now--oxidized paint, faded interior, etc. The southwestern sun has taken it's toll. That's one of the reasons I want to get it back here to AZ so that I can spend some time restoring the cosmetics.

I'll be back and forth to the Springs several times this summer, though, so will send you a PM when I get the 6'er back up there.

Don't worry - we aren't the types to pick a car apart to point out imperfections, more so just admirers of these rare pieces of engineering.

Understood. It'll depend on how quickly we can get the repairs done. I'll see if we can squeeze in a quick meet.

Looks like you have a nice little pair of M-cars yourself!

heck for 3000, I'd do the timing chain ,all the rails and the other work as well. Dealer probably doesn't have any one old school enough to do the timing components anyway

Would also be interested to meet up and admire your car either at a meet or cruise. We have a pretty neat group of E24's in the Denver area/ and a few in the springs.

Expect to be in town the week after Memorial Day. Assuming repairs are done and she's ready to go mechanically, maybe we can plan a meet toward the end of that week?

Well...got most of the repairs done. Skipped (for now) the fuel hoses underneath the intake accumulator, and skipped the timing chain tensioner.

I think I am good enough to go for a cruise or meet if anyone is still interested. Wednesday, 5/30, looks to be pretty good for me right now. I realize that most of you will be working mid-week, so I was thinking maybe a coffee or cold beverage somewhere in Castle Rock? That might allow for max participation from both Denver and the Springs. Let me know what you guys think...

Anyone still interested to meet on Wednesday?

I would be willing to meet up, and could likely get a few others as well. I likely won't be able to drive the 635 as it is in the Springs, and I am in Aurora. But give me a text or call 303-249-4632.

It might be cool to meet at a burger joint of some sort.

I found of a place called Crave in Castle Rock, it seems like they have good reviews. Let me know(phone, email, etc):
3982 Limelight Ave
Castle Rock, CO 80109
(303) 814-2829

Sounds good, Tom. Nice talking to you a few minutes ago. I'll plan on 630pm tomorrow, 5/30, unless I hear differently from you between now and then. Hope some others can come as well!

Here is a link to the restaurant we are headed to, just in case in you wanted to check it out.

I made posting in the Regional Mountain section to see if anybody else wants to make it out.
