View Full Version : Anybody swap the pulley on their E36 M3 w/ VFE Supercharger??

Hey Guys-

I got my VFE Supercharger and Water/Meth system installed (Yay!) and I'm Planning on swapping the pulley to something smaller after the break-in and initial Dyno testing.

I've got the V3-SCI with the 3.6" pulley installed. I also have the 330 cc/min injectors (31.5 lb/hr I believe) and I've heard that the GIAC Tuning runs super rich and that I should be able to go to a 3.33" which would get me ~9PSI But I'm not sure if this is too much without making any other changes.

My Options are 3.48", 3.40" and 3.33".

Keep in mind I have no Real charge cooling (beside water/meth) and am running a (relatively new) stock head gasket.

I got water/meth for charge cooling and detonation insurance BUT I don't want to absolutely rely on it working or else put my motor in serious danger.

My Question is...

Who here has swapped the pulley on their VF Kit WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE, and what size pulley did you use? Did you notice a significant power increase, and have you had any issues?

Please guys if you've done this chime in. Even if you know someone who's done this. Thanks in advance.

I think Max Psi maybe working on an aftercooler design for the VF humans which would be better then running water/methi setup. Maybe Mike can chime in over here.

For now I just want a small bump... I would have gotten RMS Stage 2 If I wanted an aftercooler and 350+whp.

I wanted a setup that wouldn't require a new headgasket, clutch/flywheel, etc.

I'm not looking for Huge power... just a small bump above stage 1. I've got an M50 manifold, UDP's, fan delete, dinan exhaust, water/meth and a new VF Supercharger on an S52 which was rebuilt about 10k miles ago. I'm hoping for 300whp but I know I might not get there... But +2 PSI May just give me that little extra bump that I need.

Be careful swapping the pulley with the vf kit. Their tunes run lean as it is, or at least mine did.

Wow... That is lean. I have a wideband and it reads in the 10's at WOT so I'm not sure if it's just my car or if they've changed something.

Either way I'll wait until after getting my dyno to do anything.

What other mods (if any) did you have at that time? I'd be happy with 300whp lol.
