My 335 is about a year old now. It has light miles - like 8,000 or so. I baby this car. The computer says 17k left on the rears and 39k left on the fronts. The number for the rears seems way out of wack. I noticed it about 500 miles ago when the rears said 19k.

Does this seem like something is wrong to anyone else?

Normal , my car has 18k and life left on rear pads are 3k

They are expected to last 25k max and the front one around 40 -45k

From my experience, it seems the MY11 are a bit pessimistic when reporting the remaining mileage. Mine was showing less than 1K mile left after about 18K miles, but the pads were almost brand new upon inspection. They just reprogrammed it. It is not a biggie, you can ask them to check next time you take it in. I does nothing other than a reminder, until the pads wear all the way down at which time you will know.
The rears do wear faster on these cars though.

They're not that worn. He's right about the newer cars. They switched back to the older style brake wear sensors, and for some reason, they forecasted a really low mileage on the rears. Everyone I have seen has come in at like 17-20k miles showing rear brakes due, and they're all at like 10 mm of pad. I just reset the light and send them on their way.

I purchased ceramic pads (Rotex Gold) right after I bought my car new in '04. I swapped out the dusty BMW pads and installed the ceramic pads. Very little dust!

I'm at 107,600 miles and I finally just replaced my front brake pads for the first time since 2004. The rears are still going...

Mine is the other way around. 2007 CPO I purchased about a year ago. I've put about 10K on the car. When I got it, the CBS indicated 10K remaining for both front and back. Thought it was weird that they'd both be the same, so asked the dealer to measure the pads. they were the same (I forget the actual measurement).

Now, 10K miles later, it still reads 10K. I obviously am listening/sensitive to see if they feel worn, but no noise or other wear indications so far....just seems weird.
