Hey guys,

I am looking at e46 m3's right now but I also just came across a 335i with JB4. I know it is a tune and it is Plug and play but I don't know much else about it. Can someone help me figure this out. Thanks

Funny guy. I was looking more for peoples perspective. I saw on other forums that people were comparing it to hpf e46 m3 and a hpf m3 is alot more money than a $600 chip.

I wouldn't compare it to a HPF M3, they are in very different leagues. There are 3 popular tunes out there: JuiceBox (JB4), Procede, and Cobb. The first 2 are both piggyback, meaning that you will need to go into your ECU, pull out wiring harnesses, and plug in the tune. Cobb is a flash that you install using your ODB port. All 3 have their perks, and depending on what you want one tune will be slightly better. On a stock car, you can expect about a 60-70 HP and torque addition. When you start adding bolt-ons, that power goes up. Unfortunatly there isn't a whole lot of knowledge on these forums for 335 tunes, there are 2 really good forums with tuning info, go search google for them (can't link due to forum rules). Also, see if you can find someone near you that has one of the above tunes and ask for a ride, so you can get a feel of how the tunes act over stock.

Thanks, I wouldn't compare it to a hpf either but people were. I know how Cobb works my friend had it on his STI. I am currently reading up about JB4 more right now. I'm just flirting with the idea of a 335 but I'm most likely going to go with the e46 m3 and stay NA.

The cobb is better IMO for the simple fact you program the ECU, not putting something in line with the ECU. The cobb programs seem to unlock more power for a stock 335 then they do for a stock STI. So don't base your opinion on your STI buddy. What I've seen of the Cobb, the difference is substantial.

I wasn't basing my opinion of Cobb on the STI. They are two totally different cars. I was saying I am familiar with the Cobb because it just plugs into the obdII port.

Others will say the JB4 is a better buy because it's cheaper and produces more power. Do your research.

If I was going to do a tune on my 335i, I would go with the Dinan S2.

It's a 45k dollar car, while I don't like to throw away money, the 350 bucks to have a programmer that I can change maps in 8 minutes and revert to stock in 8 also... Read codes and do other diagnostics too boot... Seems a better buy to me.

Dinan seems overpriced and under performing. BUT it will not effect your warranty if you are into that.

That's a common misconception, it actually voids your factory warranty just the same, but Dinan picks the tab from BMW assuming you do not get stuck in a blame game between the 2. However, they are more conservative (for a good reason) and back it up with a long history of top engineering and track record if that matters.

350.00? If you're referring to the Cobb you're not close price wise.

I have a cobb. 350 extra bucks over the juicebox that should have said.

I've decided to go with the e46 m3, it's more in my price range than the 335i. I also would like to stick with a naturally aspirated car for now.
