Hey guys,
So I bought my first bmw in the beginning of March and I just got my first real issue with my ride. :help
So I was driving pretty fast recently and I hit a pot hole, next thing I know my radio and navi shut off for a second. Since everything came back normally in just a few seconds I thought it was normal and pay'd it no mind.
Yesterday I was driving and wanted to catch a light so I sped up and made a left turn only to hit another pothole, low and behold it happened again but this time my whole car just shut down. I pulled to the side of the street, put the car in P, it turned on immediately so I drove away.
I just got back from checking the car out @ a friends shop but they couldn't find anything wrong, they hooked it up to a computer for about half an hour they couldn't find anything wrong.
Has anything like this happened to anyone before? :help

I would suggest checking the battery connections, could be something coming loose on impact.

Thanks for your response mryakan. Someone advised me that and I mentioned it to the mechanic at my friends shop but he just brushed it off like it couldn't be that so I don't think he checked. I'm going to check myself right now, you never know.

oh shii, you were right, there's like a little red box on top of the battery that when i move it the car loses power. It's not the connector, something else IDK, I'm going to take it to another friend that has a shop for car audio...
Thanks again mryakan

I've learned that you check the simplest things first and work your way up from there. Except fuses, those seem to never be the issue, lol.

I believe that is the IBS, if it is not properly connected, I would not be surprised if many things don't work or if the car shuts off.

Ibs is located on negative post not positive post... Red box is power distribution box... Tighten both 13mm nuts to jdm spec (fookin tight) by hand then double check 10 mm at posts.. Battery recall is for new upgraded battery in E93 only.... Battery cable recall is inside car pass. Side all E9x vehicle and E8x vehicle... Loose nuts cause havoc as you've just learned... Is good to chek your nuts on a regular basis.... Lol

Thanks chris, that was exactly the issue. I recommend anyone having power issues or shutoff issues check this red box on battery as you advised to see if it's loose and tighten to your specifications.
