Have a problem where the clutch actuates just off ther floor. Messing with it I broke the over center spring assy at the top of the clutch pedal. I used the auto pedal box when I did the 5 sp swap. Had the bracket for the over center spring welded to it. I also swapped the pedals from an E28 pedal box since that's all I had. E28 pedal box is different from the E24. Mounts are shorter.

Did a real oem check on the clutch pedal & the part numbers are different. So maybe this has been my problem all along. I have an E24 clutch pedal that I'm going to try. It has a yellow strip on it were the E28 pedal doesn't. Now the problem is going to be swapping the pedals. Have to get the long bolt that holds the pedals to the box out.

Has anyone else that has done the swap using E28 pedals had the same problem?

The E24 clutch pedal is on. My neck is killing from hours bending under the dash. But the good news is clutch action is as should be. Sizing the E24 pedal to the E28 pedal really showed no noticable difference. But the difference is real. I had to remove the rubber pedal bump stop just to get that extra 1/4" of travel with the E28 pedal. Bump stop back on & throw is where it should be. Be good to drive it as it should. I've let others drive my car & most would grind gears (especially 3rd) if they didn't push the pedal to the metal. Now I can stop worrying about whether it was the clutch fork I didn't replace as the cause of my problem.

What bump stop did you remove, where is it? I replaced my cracked pedal assembly a few months ago, and my clutch pedal got all weird.

The bump stop is at the end of pedal travel. About a 2" round rubber bumper that the pedal hits. Also helps to hold the carpet up.
