As my engine build progresses I am working to clean up a few other issues at the same time.
My SI board batteries have been kaput since I bought the car and I have been willing to live with it.
About 1500 miles before the engine went boom, I reset my milage on the roll and lunched the gears.
So,
Gears are no problem.
SI Board. I need to replace or repair mine. Buy or exchange/repair mine with a capacitor type or??
Suggestions?
1985 M635.
I assume not comparable with US M6s?

I am hoping for more of a rebuilt replacement/core solution. Is anyone offering that?

I just soldered new batteries in, $20 from radio shack. I just confirmed what I had in there first.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that or just prefer to plug and play order the batteryless board but I caution everyone with a none fuctioning SI board to do something. Worst thing is to ignore it because eventually those old batteries are going to leak (mainly the varta ones) and when they do you will find an aftermath like pictured below. Board was garbage.

All the battery-less boards I see seem to be for US models only. Am I mistaken?
Thanks for those pictures. That actually looks like soldering I could take on.

Just a word of caution. Lithium batteries require recharging that is very different from nicad batteries. Unlike nicads, they are sensitive to overcharging ..... if overcharged ..... they can catch on fire :(
If I was going to solder in replacement batteries .... they would be nicads.

My ProgRama batteryless board went into my euro M635. No problems here.
