A lot of folks on this board seem to be fans of this model. I have always loved the look, myself, but not as into the handling (unless you go through the suspension upgrades that a lot of folks do).
So anyway...saw this on craigslist st. louis. A lot of miles for an expensive-to-own 8, but the price is right for those with the budget to maintain it.

You dont buy a e31 for performance, it's a 2 ton car. Too me it is all about the looks and the way you feel when driving it. I think it suits a auto tranny. I just sit there looking at it. And i can not believe the attention it get's when i drive it to work. Everywhere i go people ask me about it. CSI is a whole different breed , and command very high prices. I'm lucky that the previous owners took good care of mine, at present i have no mechanical issues, just a few cosmetics, mainly the headliner. This is one car that i would be hard pressed to ever get rid of, i would really have to have a money issue of some type to sell it.

True-- my dad loves his!! The V12 is almost impossible to describe.
Had to throw in a couple picture:

He considers it a supercar, and feels it is better at 120mph than his e60 M5...
He tells me Kansas is super straight, but not too boring in that car!
It's not a street racer, but an autobahn cruiser. Many of us probably won't own a car like it as far as gearing at speed is concerned.

Nice car. Some of the folks over on the E31 forum are well over 200K miles. Mine hasn't gotten that far yet, just over 100K, but this isn't an issue with proper maintenance. For me no 6 spd is a show stopper.

Is it true that these have enough torque to start out in fourth?

I believe that is just the 5.6L CSi.
Rather that is what Clarkson is testing when he refers to that claim.
I'd go check on my 750, but it's not a 6spd.

I would probably be fine with an auto with an 8 series. I would like to take a long trip in one.
