Hey guys I have exhausted my resources figuring out the origin of these springs.
They were on my car and were excellent but I wanted to freshen up my suspension (front mounts, spring pads, RSMs) and swapped in a set of Eibachs I had on the shelf.
I found this on Roadfly dated 2001

I have a 83 533 Turbo built by Hardy and Beck in Berkely CA. back in the early 80's. Rear Bilsteins are #8410608H002 and the rear springs are black with a red stripe on the end and two yellow stripes two coils up, part # is either BBS2601013RBW or 88S2601013RBW. Have not pulled the fronts.

Anyway and info would be great.
Stamped Part #'s
Front
BBS2601012RBW
Rear
BBS2601013RBW

The one on the far left is a factory rear 635csi spring.

Well looks like I found my answer:

They were offered by BBS back in the 80s and as far as I've seen, very few were sold. The BBS rep I dealt with back then sold them as part of a complete kit; body trim, suspension, wheels, etc.
