Sloppy/Loose Shifter (while in gear)

It's so loose it feels like the car is in neutral.. Shifting isn't a problem, it's just annoying. I know you can replace the bushings/that yellow washer but I've also heard things about just having to replace the entire kit

Any tips before I go and get a new short shift kit, for example?
