Just bought a new 325I, don't know much about the car, since it's my first BMW
now dealers is trying to pitch me this all body rust proofing, sound shield, interior leather stain proofing, and teflon protetive coating over the paint.. all together for $800
just want to ping other of you BWM owners out there if this is good or even necessary for the car, which I assume would have all these protection already.. so should i get it or is it a classic dealer trick?
thanks Alot

Just another way to get your money. There is enough undercoating that rust is rarley a problem on the underside of the car. As for the rest just give the car a good wax a couple of times a year and keep it clean.
And what is "sound shield" supposed to be?

The "Environmental Protection Package" is a well know money maker for the dealer, it may cost him all of $50 for materials and labor...

thanks, Ifor answering the rust proofing "scam" thing
totally agree with what you guys said. just wanted second opinions.
btw sound shield is "petroleum protechtion applied to the undercarrigage and wheel wells. protechs agaisnt salt, as well as providing an outstanding sound gurad for a quiet enjoyable ride "
haha.. sounds funny.. they are really reaching i guess..
so now what are some of the things or accessorys that i SHOULD get or do for the car?

Just one more point for the rust-proofing:
Why the hell would you pay for dealer "rust-proofing" on a car that: "BMW NA provides limited warranties for any new U.S.-specification vehicles distributed by BMW NA or sold through the BMW NA European Delivery program against defects in materials or workmanship that will result in rust perforation of the vehicle body for a period of 6 years, without mileage limitation, commencing on the date of first retail sale, or the date the vehicle is placed in service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever is earlier. "

See, 6 years warranty against rust on your vehicle. From the factory. That should raise a flag with any dealer-side rust-crap.
Teflon protection on your paint? WTF, is this a new term for waxing the car?!? Sound shield? They're already quiet!! Interior leather stain proofing... amazing.
They're trying to make you pay for qualities a bmw is known for, i.e. they're trying to bend you over ;)
