View Full Version : Any tips to getting the kidney grills out?

Havin a bit of a hard time as i dont wanna break the clips. Tips?

Probably they will break. Heat, plastic, dry climates.....don't get your hopes up

Use pins or something that will keep the other tabs open while you wiggle it out. That's the only way I can think of it working smoothly

When I bought my E38 the grilles were held in by cable ties!

Clear silicone is a good adhesive if you end up breaking some clips. It sticks like the proverbial and is very vibration tolerant.

I used duct tape on my current e38 for a while to keep the grills in. I had a bunch of twist ties and wood blocks holding in the grills of my 98 e38.

I tried taking mine off the first clip I touched broke right away...it's so brittle

By far edwins video is the easiest and even makes more sense but it does go against common sense as far as taking a hammer to a cars front grill
