My friend just broke his timing belt, and killed his engine. I'm trying to help him out and figure out the best engine option.
Option 1 - An engine from NY Block Exchange (http://www.nyblock.com) in Asheville is $1000, and has 125k Miles. (The one engine they have for the car. Seems that an E30 engine is rare.)
Option 2 - Rebuilt for $3400
I don't think he's considered junk yards, since you never know what you're going to get. He said he's not sure about putting a motor with more than 100k in the car. He's also still in college, so finding one around or below $1000 would also be very helpful. We're in Western NC, so if you know of a place that has pretty cheap shipping, or isn't too far from here that would also be very helpful.
Thanks!
