This may be a dumb question, but is there a chance that it could be knocking?

Don't our engines tend to send knock CELs when they are allowed to move too much (tapping against mount brackets and such?)
How are your mounts/brackets?

Now, you are scaring me OP.
I was having the same problem, so I changed the knock sensors. But, I've been unable to drive the car, yet.
I hope the light does not continue like in your case because I've already thrown them away and the trash man has already picked it up.

gt35rm3, I think with our cars if it IS knocking it doesn't throw a code but just pull the timing as necessary..(was like this on my obd2 m44 lol) it shouldn't anyway i'm running 94 octane
As far as mounts/brackets i did break the driver's side arm back in november but was replaced and no problems since then till now... :mad
Only werid/silly things i can think of is i used a slightly shorter length bolt to install the rear knock sensor (cause i never had the original one and it's a bit easier to install) and I don't have the main harness bracket on my harness down there so everything is just kinda ziptied...
I found a vid of somebody who who was getting the same code during driving, the closest comparison i could find of the cel flashing is like this:
http://youtu.be/HfUAf4o7jWc
I also have the obd2 knock sensors laying around at home, i remember some guys trying to spilce and use them vs the obd1 sensors which are more problematic but i rather not at this point. going to maybe try re-torque that rear sensor and seeing what happens/if it makes any changes.
So here's what i've done/tried doing so far today...
- checked that the sensor wasn't touching anything
- installed the proper length (according to realoem) m8x30 bolt
- ran car with #2 knock sensor disconnected to see if it makes a difference
- cut up my spare obd2 knock sensor up, spliced a obd1 plug on and swapped in
- added dielectic grease to the knock sensor plug/pins
- re-installed the new knock sensor then unplugged battery for 30mins
- went to friends shop to confirm the code was the knock sensor with a snap-on scan tool...cleared it but as soon as i rev up to over 3k @ idle the code comes back right away :(
Though i don't want to think it i'm starting to think it is a electrical/dme/chip issue...I have a base tune chip i can try i'll see if it does anything...
after all of this the light is staying on more often now, sometimes coming off for a few seconds then back on.
really running out of ideas though anything helps!
thanks!
