View Full Version : My guibo story...
Okay so I have been trying to get my guibo off for DAYS now.. This project has gone all wrong for me. First of all I broke a stupid stud on my manifold to midpipe connection. (Can anyone say header time??:D) Now I have 2 bolts removed off of the guibo. My problem is this: All of the bolts the go through the trans flange are coming off super easy. The bolts going through the driveshaft flange.. OMG they are pissing me off. I've tried everything, Long 1/2" drive snapon ratchet with all my strength.. didn't budge AT ALL. I've even tried an impact and it still DID NOT BUDGE!!! Infact when I was trying the impact the socket flew off at about 200mph and hit the driveshaft tunnel right above my head leaving a huge dent in the insulation. My next plan, to remove the last bolt on the trans flange and remove the whole front driveshaft with the guibo attached, and then once thats out try to remove the guibo with easier/better leverage with it removed. Anyone have any advice? The bolts have also been soaking in PB and still will not budge...

Yea just remove the whole driveshaft then work on it outside of the car. Use a big breaker bar. Or cut them and buy new ones.

Could the bolts be rusted inside the flange? Spray the entire assembly with PB, or use heat, there might be Loc-tite on them.

might be easier to work on the last bolt with the DS on the car for leverage.

Or you pull it off. Then use a wrench and ground as leverage.

The bolts have been sprayed with PB everyday now.. And none of my giant wrenches have enough leverage. Also not sure if this matters or not, but I read somewhere that everyother bolt needs to face opposite directions? All my bolts face the same way..
At this point i've had enough of having to go buy new tools, had enough of crawling under that damn car, and had enough of the busted knuckles.. Time for a shop.

First be careful with an impact in tight quarters, teeth are more expensive then a Giubo. You need only to remove three nuts and bolts, either the ones from the Giubo to the transmission flange or from the Giubo to the drive shaft flange to remove the shaft. You're correct three should face one way and the other three the other way. Just my .02
