The general consensus is a 3.38.

I have a 3.91 in my beater car and it is a bit much.

Screw 3.23s :) No, but seriously, don't get a 3.23. There's much better combos.

If OP really has a 316tds, his options are thin. Can't see on my phone.

3.38 or 3.46 tend to be the most balanced choices, but it will depend on your goals.
