Has anyone made they're own cage in they're e36?
I'm taking welding classes and I would like to make my own cage! Can some one help me out? Pics would be awesome too!

if you want to keep interior, i would highly not recommend it. it would look tacky and out of place. if racecar, then google it and look at pics from all angles. make a map of all the places that you see welded to the frame and from there go take measurements of the car and start building a plan.

also do some research on the cage frame types. im sure different crossbars have different effects on the chassis. dont want to much metal. lighter is better so research will be an advantage to the type of auto event that you will participate in.

i too had welding back when i was in highschool, the funnest class i ever took no doubt. had a 95 pathfinder at the time lifted 6 inches, and built a brush bar and skid plate and a center roll bar in the middle of the "beast" (that was its name cuz it was awesome. haha) also custom fabbed a jack holder that holds those big jacks that are like 5 feet long for 4x4. i miss those days:(

Ive made several cages but none in a e36. Decide on the setup you want, what it'll be used for and measure, measure, measure, measure, cut, measure, measure, weld, and crash it to see your weld quality.

you can drill through the dash board to fit the cage

google the FIA standards for cages and follow that, you can't go wrong or you can buy a cage, don't be scared to buy form good reputable manufacturers
