View Full Version : 2002 automatic shifter

Just bought a 76 2002 automatic. I unscrewed the shifter knob as it had some surface rust and I polished it with some fine steel wool. When I screwed it back on it would not shift out of park position. If I half unscrewed it, it would shift to the other gears. Not sure what to do.

Did you check the detent to make sure it is functioning correctly.

Yes, the button depresses all the way in.

Figured it out. Crome piece it attaches to also is adjustable. Played around a bit but found the right adjustment for both to get right height for grab beneath. Thanks for the site tip.
