View Full Version : M3 Sway Bars Into base E36?

I just installed the UUC Sway Barbarians into our two '95 M3's (love 'em, by the way) and now have the stock bars cluttering my garage.

I know the rears are a drop in for a regular E36, but what about the fronts? Will they tie to the control arm links like the stock bars, since the regular E36 does not have the link mount on the shock tube? I don't have a vanilla E36 to compare with, and want to know if my M3 bars are a bolt-in for a vanilla E36 driver.

Thanks in advance,

Standard E36 Bars are thicker then M3 bars. So if you change the mounting location, you have stiffer bars. ;)

John:

Are you saying that the stock E36 bar is thicker than the M3 bar? And the result is still that it is softer in effect than the M3 bar, due to the geometry difference? (picking up the vertical motion at the strut tube, rather than part way in on the control arm).

Maybe I just need to crawl under a stock E36 with a caliper . . . .

The front E36 bars are thicker, the rear are not. Check the thread in the Track/AutoX forum and there is a list of the diameters.
