First of all, are they any good? Second of all, which one do I use (green or red stuff) for normal street driving? Is the green one good enough? TIA!

Stay away from green, not sure about reds.
You're better off with Hawks or Ultimates.

Haven't tried Hawk's, but Axxis Ult are awesome.

Stay away from EBC Greens. They manage to warp even cryo'd rotors that are only used for commuting. Something to do with the pads not being very good at dissipating heat.

I had a set of EBC Green and burned them up to the backing plate in 2 months. I called up EBC and complianed about it. they told me that the EBC Green was a poor choice for the E36 and they shipped me a free set of reds.
the reds were a great pad and they put up with my abuse but chewed up two sets of rotors quickly. good pad but hardly rotor friendly.
After my second set of reds (all around) I moved on to Axxis Ultimates (very good set) until I put on the BBK which are running Hawk HPS (also a good pad but noisy as hell!).
get yourself a set of Axxis ultimates for normal use, you'll be very happy.

EBC greens are GREAT if you don't want to stop more than once. They are good for 1 stop from 100 or 2 consecusecutive stops from 60. And I am serious that they are great. They have FAR more initial bite than any other pad I have tried. And they will NOT "warp" rotors. In fact no pads will warp rotors. Read on stoptechs website if you want.
However, they will leave deposits on rotors if you get them hot and they get hot quick. Regardless, I wouldn't use them unless you really drive your car mildly. I would probably put them in my wifes car if she was the only driver.
The reds I was sent as a replacement for the greens were lacking the nice initial bite but did have adequate temperature performance. They also dusted and squealed. When I eventually removed them to go back to stock pagid (jurid?) pads I noted that the stock pads actually were nicer all around than the reds.
At the moment I am on Axis Ultimates.
Pros:
They have good (not great) initial bite and very good for a street pad temp performance. They didn't squeal at all till after I tracked them and even now it is only transitional and relatively quiet.
Cons:
They are not linear with temerature. There is a nice initial bite then it starts to go away (ever so slightly) before they heat up and the bite comes back. They also don't release particularly well.
Nevertheless, I am on my second pair and would consider using them again.

Yeah, I also have heard bad things about the Greens in regard to deposits on the rotors. Go with axxis if you're mostly street driving.

Ron, how long have you had the HPS? Mine drove me crazy for the first 3k or so miles (had them out twice to try and cure it). However, they are quiet now that they are good and broken in....I don't get any squeel. Could have something to do with the BBK also, but the HPS is *supposed* to be quiet.

just under 3k, I really need to do put them through the gauntlet and beat the hell out of them. you're probably right about just needing more milage on them. with my bbk, my swept space is significantly larger then stock and my brake pads are huge in comparison to a stock M3 or non-M3 E36. maybe I need to ring them out for another 1,000 miles or so.
they have one auto-x under their belt and performed very well but I don't think auto-x'ing really puts too much abuse on them since you aren't going that quickly compared to a circuit event.
